Lawrence Rothman details ambitious debut record and shares new single “Wolves Still Cry"
Shapeshifting pop merchant Lawrence Rothman has announced debut record The Book Of Law and shared new How To Dress Well-featuring tune "Wolves Still Cry".
Multi-instrumentalist Rothman wowed us in late 2015/early 2016 with a clutch of singles, including Kim Gordon team-up "Designer Babies", "H", "Users", Charli XCX collab "Oz Vs. Eden", and "California Paranoia" (ft. Angel Olsen), but seemingly vanished into the ether after the last one dropped. Fortunately he's back - and back in style with details of debut (solo) long-player The Book Of Law.
The Book Of Law is described as "an incredibly personal body of work about struggle and discovery of oneself" that sees Rothman channelling his nine "physical and emotional Alters" (some of which we've seen in previous singles and videos).
Frequent collaborator Floria Sigismondi (David Bowie, Björk) is on board for creative direction on new single/video "Wolves Still Cry", which has How To Dress Well on backing vocals. Sigismondi is behind all of the record's videos.
Justin Raisen (Sky Ferreira, HEALTH) and Yves (Rothman's brother) produce the record, which also features guest turns from Marissa Nadler, Kristen Kontrol, Angel Olsen, Autolux's Carla Azar, Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa, Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, Dennis Hamm (Thundercat), and Pino Palladino (D'Angelo, Nine Inch Nails).
